Makoka and Associates (M&A) conducts research and evaluations for governments, UN agencies, and development organizations, specializing in poverty reduction, social protection, climate resilience, food security, education, health, and other development sectors using quantitative and qualitative methods.
Outreach & Public Engagement
Makoka and Associates (M&A) supports Development Right, a Malawian NGO, to implement community development initiatives focused on livelihoods, education, child protection, economic justice, health, climate resilience, and alternative livelihoods for tobacco farmers.

Commissioned Research and Consultancies
Clients from Malawi Government ministries and departments to United Nations agencies and international organizations rely on M&A to efficiently design, execute, and disseminate results from research and evaluation to enable them to address their toughest development challenges. We work on development research in a range of fields include poverty, social protection, ultra-poor graduation, climate resilience, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, food security and sustainable livelihoods, education, health, tobacco control, etc. We have expertise in both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
Outreach
As a way of bridging the gap between research and practice, M&A provides financial and technical support to a Malawian local NGO, Development Right, to implement life-changing projects targeting the rural communities in Malawi. Development Right operates activities in:

- Water, Sanitation and Health;
- Climate Adaptation and Resilience;

Short-Term Training
M&A is a national leader in performance and strategy-related training in Malawi. We provide innovative monitoring and evaluation training programs to government agencies, foundations, and NGOs in Malawi and in southern and eastern Africa. We tailor the training to meet client needs and pair it with effective adult learning techniques. Some of the training courses include:
